GRA Commissioner General Yankuba Darboe has urged staff to remain professional, uphold integrity and seize every training opportunity, saying the future success of the institution depends on a skilled and disciplined workforce.
Addressing participants at the opening of the World Customs Organisation (WCO) Post Clearance Audit (PCA) National Diagnostic and Gap Analysis Mission, Darboe encouraged officers to view every training programme as an investment in their careers.
“No training is small. Any opportunity that you have, grab it. It might be the training of your lifetime. At the end of the day, you will learn something here that you will never forget for the rest of your life,” he said.
He advised young officers against rushing their careers, stressing that promotions and other opportunities would come through hard work, patience and professionalism.
“You are young. We are not in a rat race. Be professional and make sure you know what you are doing. At the end of the day, whatever you deserve in terms of promotion, training or anything else, you will have it,” Darboe said.
The Commissioner General reminded staff that they are the future leaders of the Authority, noting that today’s officers could become tomorrow’s Commissioner General, Deputy Commissioner General or heads of departments.
“You are the future leaders of our country.
Rome was not built in a day. It takes time, patience and hard work,” he added.
Darboe also encouraged participants to actively engage during the training, avoid distractions and share the knowledge gained with colleagues who were unable to attend, describing continuous learning as essential to building a modern and efficient revenue administration.
