A year after completing his doctoral degree with summa cum laude honours, Gambian scholar Dr Alhagie A Mbye has once again reached another academic milestone in the United States, earning a Master of Education (MEd) from Post University in Connecticut with a perfect 4.0 grade point average.
The MEd is Mbye’s seventh academic degree. His previous degrees include a PhD and a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) from Walden University, a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from Columbia Southern University, a Master of Arts (MA) in Intelligence Studies from American Military University, a Master of Science (MS) in International Relations from Liberty University, and a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland University College.
In 2025, Dr Mbye completed a PhD in Law and Public Policy at Walden University with a GPA of 3.94, graduating summa cum laude. For many scholars, earning a doctorate would mark the culmination of their formal academic journey. Mbye, however, returned to the classroom, enrolling at Post University to further strengthen his knowledge of teaching, curriculum development and instructional design.
Mbye is currently an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland Global Campus, where he teaches courses in American government, international relations and public administration. He is also a lecturer at the University at Albany, State University of New York (SUNY).
Beyond his academic qualifications, Dr Mbye has received several academic honours and is a member of a number of national and international honour societies, including the Golden Key International Honour Society, Pi Alpha Alpha, the Global Honor Society for Public Affairs & Administration, the National Society of Leadership and Success, SALUTE Veterans National Honor Society and Omega Nu Lambda National Honor Society.
In early 2026, he was also nominated for the 2026 Stanley J Drazek Teaching Excellence Award at the University of Maryland Global Campus.
The completion of his seventh degree will certainly not bring his formal academic journey to an end. Dr Mbye has already applied to and been accepted by Liberty University to pursue an eighth degree, a Doctor of Education (EdD).
Mbye is a native of Touba Mourit Village in Niamina Dankunku District, Central River Region.
