The Gambia Printing and Publishing Corporation (GPPC) and the Association of Gambian Authors for Schools (AGAS), Tuesday 28th July, renewed their partnership by signing another two year agreement for the Corporation to pay royalties to authors for their books in use at senior secondary schools across the country.

The GPPC publishes all text books authored by the Association and are making gains in the local and international markets.

During the signing ceremony, the managing director of GPPC Wurra Bah, noted that AGAS is a very important partner to GPPC and the government of The Gambia. He also underscored how AGAS books in the system are solving problems of textbooks in government assisted schools. Director Bah assured of quality and timely delivery of textbooks to schools.

The chairman of the Association of Gambian Authors for Schools Mr Malick Kanuteh on his part thanked the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education for reviewing and approving all their books to be used in schools. He mentioned that MOBSE did a good thing by certifying and allowing Gambia authored books to be used in schools before forwarding them to GPPC for publishing, production and supplies to schools. Chairman Kanuteh also praised the government of the Gambia through the Ministry of Finance for supporting students by investing hugely in the sector annually. Mr Kanuteh appeals for MOBSE to extend this assistance to the upper Basic schools and lower basic schools that are also struggling to get textbooks especially in the elective subjects.
