Two young girls were tragically killed by an out of control vehicle at Brufut beach Saturday evening.
Isatou Jabbie and Mariama Jallow, were ardent fans of Santo-Su Football Club. They were returning from watching their beloved team play a nawettan match at Brufut Strasser Football Field, when they took a detour to the beach.
According to eye-witnesses, the two girls were part of a group who were climbing up the steep road from the water front when a vehicle revving up ahead of them, lost control and cascaded uncontrollably into the crowd of people, killing the best friends. A third girl is in hospital reportedly with leg injuries.
As of last night, family members were working on retrieving the bodies from the mortuary at the EFSTH. A man believed to be the owner of the vehicle has been arrested.
It has been alleged that a woman was at the steering at the time of the accident.
Brusubi police are investigating the matter which has shocked the community.
