The Pastef-Les Patriotes party has just announced the suspension of all its rallies across the country until 15th October. This decision follows the heavy rains that have battered the nation in recent days. “In recent days, heavy rains have struck our country, leaving a heavy toll: loss of life, numerous families affected, destroyed property, cut-off roads, and entire neighbourhoods still underwater,” reads the statement signed by the National Executive Bureau on Wednesday, 7th October. The document further states that the party pays tribute to the memory of the deceased and offers its heartfelt condolences to their families. It also reaffirms its solidarity with all the victims. Ousmane Sonko and his colleagues explained that this suspension is intended to show respect for the grieving families and to focus all energy on what is essential. Consequently, they call upon party members and supporters to mobilise alongside the affected populations — in coordination with state services on the ground — to provide them with aid and assistance. Racky Diaby shot dead in her sleep 2 days after her wedding

In Mali, Racky Diaby was allegedly killed by her husband just two days after her Kognosso — the honeymoon period following the wedding. Their union, celebrated on 27th September, 2026, turned tragic a few days later. According to initial accounts, her husband, under the influence of narcotics, shot her while she was asleep. The testimony of the makeup artist who prepared the bride on the day of the ceremony is widely circulating. She claimed to have received a call from Racky Diaby shortly before the tragedy. The young woman reportedly confided that her husband, the son of a former Malian minister, was furious. He had accused her of posting a video of the wedding on social media, as he did not want images of his wife circulating online. According to the makeup artist, the husband even threatened to file a complaint against her. She noted that he was shouting at Racky Diaby while she was on the phone. These details lead her to describe the accused as a violent, short-tempered man. It is currently unknown whether the suspect has been arrested or what legal action will follow. This tragedy has reignited the debate on social media regarding domestic violence and the warning signs that sometimes precede such tragedies. Racky Diaby’s funeral will take place today, Friday, 9th October, in Faladjè. Seneweb
